On Friday 8th June, P2 enjoyed a mini beast adventure in the grounds of Greenmount, Antrim. We had a fun filled day of mini beast hunting, pond dipping and nature walks. This really enhanced our current World Around Us topic. We really enjoyed travelling on a double decker bus and eating our picnic outdoors! What a great day we had!
The life cycle of the butterfly
In P2 we have really enjoyed learning about how caterpillars turn into butterflies! We observed our caterpillars growing bigger each day and then building their cocoons. After about 2 weeks out came beautiful ‘Painted Lady’ butterflies which we observed for a few days and then released into our school grounds.
In P2 we have been enjoying some outdoor play. We love to climb on our climbing frame and use the ride on trikes and bikes. We also really enjoyed completing art activities using materials we find outside to help us create pictures based on our mini beast topic - we have lots of fun in the great outdoors!
In P2 we have been learning about mini beasts. In Play Based Learning we have been enjoying lots of topic based activities including role play at the mini beast library, making mini beasts using craft materials, creating a mini beast garden in the sand tray, using the computer to draw pictures of our favourite mini beasts, listening to mini beast stories, using the Bee Bot to find our favourite mini beasts and much, much more!!
Play based Learning
In P2 we have been learning about our local area during our World Around Us ‘Out and About’ topic. In Play Based Learning we have been enjoying lots of topic based activities including role play at the café area, making buildings out of ‘junk’ materials, constructing village scenes out of building materials, ICT activities, jigsaws and much more!!
As part of the scarecrow festival that was happening in the village, P2 decided to enter their very own creations! Meet Grace and Mr Hill!
