Primary 7 were invited to a Good Relations event being held at the Braid on Wednesday 30th January. The theme of the whole programme was that we should all be making it our goal to play and work alongside each other, no matter from where in the world we come from. After the serious message was conveyed, it was time to have a bit of fun, which this year came in the form of a dance masterclass highlighting dances from around the world, which all really enjoyed. We are now expert Chinese style and Salsa dancers!
To draw the Victorian topic to a close we had a Victorian day in school. We dressed in Victorian style clothes, followed Victorian rules and completed various Victorian class activities. Also Miss Fleck baked a Victoria sponge for us all to try. We had a fantastic day!
As part of our World Around Us Topic of the Victorians, we discovered that many important inventions were created during this era. The first light bulb was credited as being invented in these times, so we decided to investigate bulbs and simple circuits. We built and tested various circuits before being given the final challenge of designing and building our own lamps for a toy house. We learned a lot from this challenge but most importantly we had great fun doing so!
We were given the challenge by Miss Thompson of designing and making traditional Victorian games. I think that you’ll agree – we did a fantastic job!
