Caring, Learning, Achieving Together
Principal’s Welcome
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our school. We are proud to be a friendly, caring and inclusive school community where every child is valued, nurtured and encouraged to achieve their full potential.
At Gracehill, we believe that children learn best when they feel happy, safe and supported. We are committed to providing a high-quality education that inspires a love of learning, develops confidence and resilience, and equips pupils with the skills they need for the future. Our dedicated staff work hard to create engaging learning experiences that challenge and encourage every child to achieve their very best.
We are proud of the strong relationships we build with our families and the wider community. We recognise that education is most successful when parents, staff and pupils work together, and we greatly value the support and partnership of our families.
Alongside academic achievement, we place great importance on developing each child's character, wellbeing and sense of belonging. Through a wide range of curricular and extra-curricular opportunities, we encourage our pupils to become responsible, respectful and caring members of society.
Whether you are considering Gracehill for your child's first year at school or joining us at another stage of their educational journey, we hope this prospectus provides a flavour of all that our school has to offer. Visitors are always welcome, and we would be delighted to show you around and share what makes Gracehill such a special place to learn and grow.
I look forward to welcoming you and your family to our school community.

We are very fortunate to operate a Morning Club from 8.00am to 8:30am in our assembly hall. Children can then enjoy time socialising and playing with their peers before heading to class. It is a lovely way to prepare for the school day while also giving families the option of dropping their children off earlier.
This costs £1 per child per day. Everyone is welcome!

Our pastoral care provision promotes a happy, caring and secure environment where every member of our school community is valued for their uniqueness and individual contributions to school life, and where achievements are celebrated and positive behaviour encouraged. The school has a responsibility for each pupil’s physical and emotional wellbeing.
In the first instance the class teacher will be alert to any difficulties being experienced by their pupils and if these cannot be readily resolved the matter will be referred to our designated teacher.
Pastoral Care Policies
We have a number of pastoral care policies in place which demonstrate our profound commitment to pupils’ overall well-being beyond academic achievement. These can all be accessed via our school website.
If you would like to know more about our safeguarding policies or procedures, please speak to our Designated Teacher for Child Protection or a member of our safeguarding team. Further information is also available on the school website.

Religious Education (RE) is provided in accordance with the core syllabus throughout the school. RE is provided within each class and outside agencies such as SUNI provide lessons to our KS2 classes. We hold a whole school assembly each Friday morning where the school comes together for an act of worship and praise and to celebrate the excellent work and achievements of our pupils. We have a variety of guest speakers and visitors throughout the year from local churches and ministry teams. Pupils also have the opportunity to lead school assembly during the school year.
Staff are currently working alongside the Department of Education to prepare for the new curriculum for Northern Ireland, which is due to be introduced from September 2028.

At our school, we are committed to providing an inclusive, supportive and nurturing environment where every child is valued and encouraged to reach their full potential. The school has a responsibility, within its available resources, to meet the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs, whether these arise from learning difficulties, physical or sensory needs or other additional needs. Our Special Educational Needs and Inclusion Policy is fully aligned with the Special Educational Needs and Disability (NI) Act and the guidance set out in the Code of Practice for the Identification and Assessment of Special Educational Needs.
Where appropriate, additional support is provided within the school, and staff work closely with parents to ensure that individual needs are identified and addressed effectively. When it is felt that input from external agencies would benefit a child, the appropriate procedures are followed and parents are kept fully informed throughout the process. Through this collaborative approach, we strive to ensure that all pupils can access the curriculum, participate fully in school life and experience success in their learning and personal development.
Digital Learning
Technology plays an important role in supporting teaching and learning throughout the school. We aim to develop pupils' confidence, creativity and digital skills while promoting the safe, responsible and effective use of technology.
At Gracehill Primary School, our pupils have access to a range of high-quality digital resources, including interactive whiteboards in every classroom, class sets of iPads and a well-equipped ICT suite. These resources support learning across the curriculum and provide opportunities for children to develop a broad range of digital skills using a variety of technologies.
Through carefully planned learning experiences, pupils are encouraged to use technology creatively, collaboratively and purposefully, preparing them for life and learning in an increasingly digital world.
Outdoor Learning
We are fortunate to have extensive school grounds that provide valuable opportunities for outdoor learning throughout the year, including dedicated play areas and our own forest.
As an accredited Forest School, outdoor learning forms an important part of the educational experiences we offer our pupils. Children regularly engage in activities beyond the classroom where they can investigate, explore, problem-solve and develop practical skills in real-life contexts.
